Finishing his primary school education with a score of 220, Terence went on to continue his secondary education in a neighborhood school in the east. Failing his Science and English in Sec 1, Terence was almost dropped from the express to the normal stream….. The beginningIt was then that Terence realized that he has to do something about his life. He reflected upon his learning attitude and strategies and tried to find one that is most suitable for learning. He finally found the answer that would make a difference to his life……… The “Common Sense” strategyThis self devised strategy focuses on quality feedback and applying critical analysis to sieve out subtle but impactful misconceptions. By correcting these alternative perceptions, Terence made quantum leaps in his studies. The resultsWithin a year, Terence jumped from being ranked 135 in the cohort to 2nd overall. He went on to top at least four subjects every year. During his Sec 3 and 4 years, he never miss the honour of being the top student for Chemistry, Physics, Additional Maths and Elementary Maths. Moving on to one of the top junior colleges, Terence continued to top in Physics and Maths in almost all the moajor exams. The outstanding results and performance eventually earned Terence 7 distinctions in his A level examination (with S paper distinction in {Physics and Maths} Terence was then awarded a government scholarship to study in UK Imperial College in the field of Physics where he emerged second overall. Back in Singapore, Terence continued to excel as a Teacher and had earned awards for his innovative and effective teaching methods.
